A weekly blog to capture market movement
My name is Peyton Cabanillas. I'm currently a high school junior who has a passion for investing and the stock market. This passion has led me to begin trading at a young age, growing my investment portfolio and learning more about the stock market in these past few years.
How this started
About 6 years ago, my dad introduced me to the stock market. I'd heard about it before, but never truly understood its inner mechanisms. Alongside this introduction, he helped me open the brokerage account I still use today.
At first, I was often confused by what made markets move, and this lack of understanding sparked a curiosity in me—a curiosity that led me to research and learn about the market in depth. I discovered that real-world events (geopolitical tensions, earnings calls, Federal Reserve rate decisions) can have huge implications on how the market will perform.
Every week I will break down what happened in the stock market, but also try to find the reasoning behind major shifts. Additionally, I will share how my portfolio performs in real to add an individual perspective that readers can connect to.
My Investing Philosophy
Long-term thinking
I focus on multi-year horizons, not daily price moves. Compounding rewards patience.
Do your own research
I share my thinking, not instructions. Every investor's situation is different — always verify before you act.
Risk first
Evaluating risk is key to determining whether or not to invest. Risky stocks (eg. penny stocks) may not be worth your time therefore.
Diversify!
Markets change. Keeping your money in one industry causes risky dependence. Diversifying, on the other hand, helps protect your portfolio and grow with the overall market.
